ILLINOIS POLLUTION CONTROL BOARD
October 17, 1972
UNION ELECTRIC CO.
v.
)
#
71—208
ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY
)
Opinion & Order of the Board
(by Mr. Currie):
Union Electric petitioned for time to bring its Venice
generating station into compliance with particulate emission
regulations in general accordance with a program approved
by our predecessor, the Air Pollution Control Board.
As
a result of delays not explained to us the hearing was
postponed.
Union Electric has since derated the plant,
pursuant to its program,
to such an extent that it believes
it now complies with the regulations and no longer needs
a variance.
The company is further proceeding
to convert
the station to oil
so as
“to eliminate particulate emissions
from these six boilers and to reduce sulfur dioxide emissions
from this plant well
in advance of regulatory require-
ments.”
Union Electric asks to withdraw the petition as
unnecessary;
the motion is granted and the petition dis-
missed without prejudice.
I, Christan Moffett, Clerk of the Pollution Control Board,
certify that the Board adopted the above Opinion
&
Order
