    Dear Ms. Gunn,
I am writing to you to
    express my
    extreme opposition
    to the Lowe
    Waste
    Transfer Station, case number
    PCBO3-221. I
    am
    asking that the IPCB
    uphold
    McHenry
    County’sdecision
    to
    deny Mr. Lowe’s
    application
and let me tell you my reasons. I am a first time home buyer that recently moved into Cary. It was a
wonderful accomplishment for me to purchase this home and I will try to expressto you in words the
extreme satisfaction aswell as accomplishment and pride I fee! ~itmy’newpurchase. I choose to live in
Cary, and specifically, the Bright Oaks subdivision, because it is an established family community. The
people there and hard working, of all age groups and take wonderful care oftheir properties. I watch my
neighbors who have lived here for many years work outside every weekend landscaping, decorating and
repairing theiryards. These yards are common areas and the residents are not required to make any
improvements. They do it because they want to live in a well kept and beautiful neighborhood. I also
choose to live in Cary because it is ‘a location away from the high traffic congestion in other towns like
Schaumburg,Palatine and Arlington Heights. It is like going home to a place in the country every night,
rather than living in a “hotel room” condominium in another town. I made the decision to drive an extra
half hourin each direction to work every day, so I could live in a quiet community like Cary.
When I began hearing about the proposed waste station thatwauldbe located approximately 2000 feet
from my front door, it put a pit in my stomach. Not only is it a huge let down for me, but it I am fearful of
the effects it will have on my everyday life. Increased traffic, the constant smell of garbage that will be
worse in the summer months,. waste blowing, intomy subdivision and noise poliutionareafew.~comm.on
traits ofthese types ofstations. After all my hard work to become a homeowner and accomplishing my
dream, Mr~Lowe wantsto put a garbage dump in my front yard. I was counting’ on my property
appreciating in value over the next few years. If this waste transfer station is built on Mr. Lowe’s property,
it may not appreciate at all.
The residents of Cary have to pay forgarbage pick up under the Blue Bag Program; I would gladly see an
increase in the cost of blue bags over the building ofthe transfer station. The Blue Bag Program forces
me to make conscience decisions about the products I buy and the waste I generate. Cary has a
wonderful recycling program as well. I am so proud of it. I give them 70 of my garbage every week. In
another town, that material would go into a waste transfer station, then into a land fill. The village does
every thing possible to control waste production. It is so ironic and unfair that this proposed project would
be built on Cary’s border. The negative stigma on the village and my subdivision would be irreversible.
I am asking you to please uphold the McHenry County’s decision to deny the application forthe Lowe
Waste Transfer Station. There are other locations that are less populated in McHenry County that could
tolerate astation like theone proposed.. P!ease;considerthe negativeefacts itwouIdhaveontbe~arth,
