STATUS REPORT
NOW COMES the Complainant, PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, by LISA
MADIGAN, Attorney General of the State of Illinois, and pursuant to the Hearing Officer's Order
of January 10, 2006, submits the following Status Report
:
In October of 2005, Complainant filed a Motion for Stay of the above-captioned
proceedings alleging that the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency had been invited to join
in a joint Federal and State global initiative against Saint Gobain
.
2 .
In its October 2005 Motion, Complainant further indicated that the joint
Federal/State initiative would include Saint Gobain's Lincoln, Illinois, facility and would include
apparent violations of applicable federal (PCD) requirements relative to regulated air
contaminants, including NO,
.
3 .
The joint Federal/State initiative has proceeded and Saint Gobain has elected to
pursue negotiations for a global settlement, including the Lincoln facility
.
4.
The settlement negotiations are currently proceeding, with the next meeting
scheduled for January 16 -18, 2007, in Seattle, WA
.
WHEREFORE, because the joint Federal/State initiative is proceeding and appears to
create the possibility that there will be a global settlement which will address the Lincoln facility,
1

which is the subject of this action, Complainant does not currently plan to request that the stay
be lifted .
Respectfully submitted,
PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS,
LISA MADIGAN,
Attorney General
of the State of Illinois,
500 South Second Street
