Dear Illinois Pollution Control Board,
I am writing to ask you to carefully review the Illinois EPA renewal of
the Peoria Disposal Company's operating permit. This renewal permit
should NOT allow the PDC to expand operations or push the anticipated
closure date further into the future.
This Peoria hazardous waste landfill soon should be completely closed and
you should ask the IEPA, as landfill operations continue, to require
additional monitoring of groundwater and air emissions and also require
that monitoring results be analyzed by an independent laboratory rather than
by the Peoria Disposal Company.
This landfill is a long term hazard to the local aquifer over which it is
located and the continued operation of this landfill increases this hazard.
Sincerely,
Frederick
R.
Dintzis
