Illinois Pollution Control Board

Dear Illinois Pollution Control Board:
Iam wish to encourage support for effective “antidegradation” standards for our
rivers. :Ths policy prohibits the lowering of water quality on
streams
meeting
• standards and allows the designation ofdischarge-free “outstanding water” areas. It
• . .
is my understanding that Governor Ryan is proposing such policies and that the
state’s polluters are preparing to challenge this proposal. Again, I encourage the
illinois Poiltition Control Board to adopt “antidegradation” policies.
Sincerely,
Russell A. Dietrich-Rybicki
