    (Permit Appeal)
    ILLINOIS ENVIRONMENTAL
    PROTECTION AGENCY,
    Respondent.
ORDER OF THE BOARD (by J. Theodore Meyer):
On August 26, 1994, petitioner Acme Steel Company (Acme)
filed a status report in this proceeding. Acme recounts the
progress on its petition for adjusted standard (AS 94-8), which
would, if granted, resolve this case with regard to the thermal
permit limitations. Acme states that after several discussions
with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (Agency), Acme
has agreed to modify its petition for adjusted standard, and has
filed a motion to amend that petition and to provide additional
time for the Agency to file its response. Acme also states that,
in regard to the issues in this case which are not the subject of
the adjusted standard petition, the Agency intends to issue a
draft permit addressing those issues. However, Acme states that
the draft has not been issued due to personnel shortages at the
Agency, and because the draft permit will have to address the
Board’s decision in the adjusted standard petition, when that
decision is made. Acme states that the Agency has no objection
to this status report, and recommends that this matter be stayed
for 90 days pending resolution of the adjusted standard petition.
The Board accepts Acme’s status report. We have extended
the stay beyond the 90 days requested by Acme with the
expectation that Acme will do all in its power to assure that the
adjusted standard petition proceeds to decision as rapidly as
possible. Acme is directed to file an additional status report
no later than January 5, 1995.
    IT IS SO ORDERED.
