)
PCB 76-27
ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY,
Respondent.
ORDER OF THE BOARD (by Mr. Dumelle):
Petition filed January 26, 1976 is inadequate in that no
information is given as to the occurrence, if any, of algae
blooms upon the city reservoir and whether bad taste and odors
are being experienced in the Macomb public water supply. Also
no data are given as to the area of the Reservoir that would
be affected by ammonia concentrations in excess of the standard
of 1.5 mg/i and what effect this would have upon fish life in
the Reservoir. Information as to the cost of treating the phosphorus
effluent from the proposed septic system to 1.0 mg/i should
also be given.
Petitioner shall amend the Petition within 45 days from the
date of this Order to provide the needed information. The 90-day
period set by statute for a decision shall run from the filing of
the amended Petition. Failure to timely file the amended Petition
shall make it liable to dismissal for inadequacy.
IT IS SO ORDERED.
Dr. Satchell abstained.
