To the Members of the Illinois Pollution Control Board,
As a member of Heart of Illinois Group Sierra Club, I am greatly
concerned about the precedent being set if Peoria Disposal
Company is granted delisting of Electric Arc Furnace Dust waste.
There has been no independent testing of the new treatment
process PDC claims is safe. Their own testing occurred only in
December 2007 and February 2008, yet this waste could be in
our local landfills, including ones over the Mahomet Aquifer, forever.
I am concerned about dioxins, furans, mercury, and other heavy
metals leaching from this waste. If delisting is granted, PDC will
be able to send their treated EAF to any municipal waste landfill
in Illinois. I believe this violates factors of the IL Environrr ntal
conditions,
Protection Act,
