CASE H AC-07-28
In 1952, my dad bought this farm of about 70 acres
. Its got a creek running the full width
of the farm . Back then, the creek ran straight, but through the years a big tree at the
edge of the
bank washed out and fell across the creek at an angle
. When we would get a big rain, the creek
would get up in the banks and wash against the tree a veere off the tree into the bank washing the
bank away and then when the current would get around the tree back to the creek, it would shoot
across the creek into the other bank . Anyway, after years went by, the creek
snaked acorss the
farm . Dad was getting old and rented the farm and the renters didn't care .
Dad had a bull dozer
come in the creek and straigtened it back out pushing the gravel to each side
making it level on
bath sides .
I couldn't see how it would be a bad investment the same material is on all the black top
roads as for as the shingles dumped on the ground as shown on site sketch 001 &0025003 . I had
a load on my truck and Jerseyville Landfill shut down there business . I did'nt know where to take
them
. They then froze in the back of the truck bed . A friend wanted to use my truck and I told
him I had to get my truck inspected and they woundn't inspect with a load on it . He said can we
dump them in a pile, so I can get it inspected . When I raised the bed the shingles wouldn't come
out because they were froze to the bed . So I backed up fast and braked hard four (4) times and
that is why there is four (4) piles . We were going to load the truck back up and hall them to Barry
Illiniois a dump site I found out that had opened
. The motor then went out in the truck . So now, I
got a truck that won't run
. No inspection, no money . I am trying and given time, I will get it
cleaned up . Mr . Townsen has been here about three (3) times and I was never here until
the last
time. I got to talk to him and he agreed that I had cleaned up alot but had more to go
.
Sincerely yours,
Norman Bartlett
