ILLINOIS POLLUTION CONTROL BOARD

COMMONWEALTH EDISON CO.

v.

#
72—295
ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY
Preliminary Opinion
& Order of the Board
(by Mr. Currie):
Edison asks reaffirmation, after the passage of a year,
of its program for particulate emission control at its Will
County and Powerton generating stations.
The statute requires
an annual reexamination of extended programs to assure adequate
progress.
To the extent this is all that is at stake, we see
no present necessity
(barring an adverse Agency recommendation)
for formal proof.
However, the petition also appears to request
in certain respects additional
time beyond that contemplated
by the earlier order (compare paragraph
1 of the petition with
paragraphs
5 and 11).
A hearing is hereby authorized
in which
Edison should present whatever evidence it deems necessary to
justify any such request.
I, Christan Moffett, Clerk of the Pollution Control Board, certify
that the Board adopted the above Preliminary Opinion
& Order
