OPINION
AND
ORDER OF THE BOARD
(by Mr. Dumelle)
On May
25, 1973 the Sherwiri~Wi1liamsCompany filed
a petition
to modify the variance granted November
21,
1972.
Sherwin-Williams
asks for a modification of interim dates which have to do with the
paint department wastewaters.
The
final date for completion of
the mercury control program of September
30, 1974
is not affected.
The Agency,
in its response to the motion filed June
6,
1973
recommends
a grant of the amended interim dates.
We agree with
the Agency and Sherwin-Williams and grant the change
in dates
as
listed in this order.
Sherwin-Williams has done an excellent job
in reducing its mercury discharges
and
in the instant proceeding
has discontinued certain operations such as laundry and drum cleaning
that have further reduced the quantity of the wastewater
flow.
ORDER
The order of November 21,
1972
(6 PCB
286)
is changed
to read
as
follows:
3.
Detail design drawings and plans for further
mercury control on areas of the plant other than
the paint department shall be submitted to the
Agency by June
4,
1973.
Preliminary engineering
plans of proposed treatment for mercury control
for the paint department shall be submitted to
the Agency by July 30,
1973 and detail engineering
drawings and plans
for the same facility shall be
submitted by September 28,
1973.
IT
IS SO ORDERED.
I, Christan L. Moffett, Clerk of the Illinois Pollution Control
Board, hereby certify the above Opinion and Order were adopted on the
74~~
day of June,
1973 by a vote of ________________________________
