ILLINOIS
POWER CO.
v.
)
#
71—195
ENVIRONMENTAL
PROTECTION AGENCY
Supplemental Order
(by Mr.
Currie):
Our order of September
iu,
1971, placed limits on the
operation of units 1-3
at the Wood River plant, whose
aim was
to petmit use of these extremely offensive units only when
other power sources
are unavailable.
The company asks that
we clarify or amend that order to make clear that it is permissible’
for the company, during intermittent
low-load testing from
November
29
to December
10,
1971
of the Cat-Ox control system
being installed on an adjacent unit,
to use units
1—3
if other
sources are
not available.
The Agency has no objection
to the
motion.
The tests
are necessary in order to determine the effective-
ness of the important and relatively new Cat-Ox system, which is
significant not only for the success of this particular installation
but
for the nationwide future of sulfur dioxide and particulate
control.
The unavailability of unit
4 during such
an abbreviated
period is entirely in the spirit of what we contemplated
in
the original order, and themotion
is hereby granted.
I, Christan Moffett, Acting Clerk of the Pollution Control Board,
certify that the Board adopted the above Supplementary Order

7
day of December,
