ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY
OPINION OF THE BOARD
(by Mr.
Kissel)
The Highland Park Hospital Foundation
(“Hospital”)
filed
a variance petition with the Board on December
9,
1971, seeking
to attach
a twelve-unit apartment building
to the North Shore
Sanitary District sewer system tributary to the Clavey Road plant.
The apartment building is to house nursing and technical per-
sonnel already living,in other quarters at
the
Hospital.
In
order to keep such personnel
“on call”,
the
Hospital has found
it necessary to provide living quarters on the premises.
Due
to the vital role which
a hospital plays in protecting
the public health, we believe that this variance should be granted
to the petitioner.
The variance is hereby granted.
Mr. Lawton took no part in the consideration or decision of
this
case.
I, Christan L
Moffett, Clerk of the Pollution Control Board,~
certify that the Boa:d adopted the above Opinion and Order this
