WATER POLLUTION CONTROL REGULATIONS

ORDER OF THE BOARD

 (by Mr.

 Henss):

Pursuant to Rule

211

 of the Procedural Rules,

 the Board

hereby revises

 the proposed

 regulation.

 The revision provides

for

 a water quality standard of

 5 mg/i

 (fluoride)

 instead of

the 15 mg/i

 (fluoride)

 which had been requested for the

fluorspar mining industry.

 It proposes

 the new standard only

in “interrnittent~streams where the record indicates

 that:

(1)

Petitioners have

 no economically reasonable and technologically

feasible method

 for meeting the current standard of

 1.4 mg/i

(fluoride),

and

(2)

 the waters are not

 in fact used

as

 a public

drinking

supply.

The

revision

also

makes

the

proposed

effluent

standard

 15 mg/i

 (fluoride)

 for all industries rather

 than just

the

 fluorspar mining industry.

The Clerk shall send a copy of the proposed final draft

to the parties and the revised version shall also be published

in the Board Newsletter as

 follows:

203.1 Exceptions

 to Rule

(a)

 The Fluoride standard of Rule 203(f)

 shall not apply

to waters of the State which:

(1) receive effluent from the mines and mills of the

fluorspar mining and concentrating industry, and

(2)

have

been

designated
