AS 97-6
(Adjusted Standard - Water)
ORDER OF THE BOARD (by R.C. Flemal):
On November 5, 1997, the National Steel Corporation Granite City Division (GCD)
filed a conditional motion for continuance of temporary stay of proceedings. This motion is in
response to the Board’s September 4, 1997 order granting GCD a stay until November 10,
1997 to file an amended petition.
The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (Agency) issued GCD a draft permit in
this matter, but has not issued a final permit. GCD states that the final permit is delayed due
to the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s (USEPA) review. GCD requests a
stay in this matter for an additional 90 days to allow it, the Agency, and the USEPA additional
time to resolve the issue. GCD observes that these negotiations may therefore result in the
withdrawal of the adjusted standard petition.
The Board hereby grants GCD’s requested stay to file an amended petition for adjusted
standard until February 9, 1998.
IT IS SO ORDERED.
Board Member Kathleen M. Hennessey abstained.
I, Dorothy M. Gunn, Clerk of the Illinois Pollution Control Board, hereby certify that
the above order was adopted on the 6th day of November, 1997, by a vote of 6-0.

Illinois Pollution Control Board
